July 2025 Sketchbook

It’s a hot July and my art is going hot too! I’m building up more digital art and making strides with pixel animation too! I haven’t made as much sketches as I have, as I’ve been hard at work on a commission on my Twitch streams.

Pen and Ink sketch of an anthropomorphic male raccoon with his back pined to the wall by various sharp weapons narrowly missing his body parts.

Digital Copic Marker Brushes

What started as a warm up, kept going into a 2 hour coloring job. I’m continuing my experiments with my Copic Brush in Clip Studio, coloring scanned ink art and tinkering the brushes to look as close to my marker art as possible.

Traditional ink and digital coloring of two anthropomorphic female foxes posing for the camera. Left fox wears a revealing blue armored bikini and a harness holding swords and hugs the flustered right fox wearing red plated armor and holding a spear.

I’m getting closer but it’s still not 100%. Blending and the taper is still a hurdle that’s not making it accurate to my liking. I bet it’s redundant to replicate the flaws of my traditional artstyle in a digital format, but again the goal is to find away to enjoy sketching digital. It’s not hitting a point where I can stand to draw from scratch, but I am getting there.

Another illustration to figure out my workflow, this time in Procreate using Copic Marker Brushes from Halftone Hospital. Procreate and my iPad’s brush settings aren’t like Clip Studio’s on my Desktop, so it’s a whole other task to adjust my workflow to a point I’m comfortable sketching digitally in.

Digital illustration of an anthropomorphic female yellow-furred cat sitting with her left knee up.

I’m not as happy because this pose is so boring. All of my Procreate art is boring because I’m blowing so much time half measuring all my digital art stuff. I’m so focused being pissed about what I can’t do digital compared to my peers, that I’m not seeking to find what I can do and figure out my niches. I don’t create to feel good, I create to not feel bad.

Doctor Delgado and Blackmask Side Characters

Here’s and initial sketch I made featuring Mr. Bigotes, the ship engineer in the background instead of Captain Rhodes.

Pencil sketch of an anthropomorphic female maned wolf wearing glasses and placing her hand on the shoulder of an anthropomorphic male raccoon, with mischievous intent. A shorter anthropomorphic male puma stands in the background looking at the two with unease.
Digital illustrations of an anthropomorphic female maned wolf wearing blue-rimmed glasses and a green and yellow top placing her hand on the shoulder of an anthropomorphic male raccoon wearing a blue coat, with mischievous intent. A shorter anthropomorphic female jackal stands in the background looking at the two with unease.

Illustration of Dr. Delgado in a proper surgeon outfit. Her first drawing doesn’t convey doctor as much as I like, so I doodled ideas in my sketchbooks about how she actually does her job. Also the fur colors are inconsistent because I don’t look back at my model sheets.

Digital color illustration of an anthropomorphic female maned wolf with her mane in a puffy pony tail. She is wearing a large white doctor coat, tan apron, brown gloves and boots, and a brown plague doctor's mask replacing her round, green rimmed glasses.
Digital color height chart showing alternate of an anthropomorphic female maned wolf. left costume depicts her wearing round glasses a short pink jacket, and pink and yellow pants.c Right costume depicts her wearing a large white doctor coat, tan apron, brown gloves and boots, and a brown plague doctor's mask replacing her round, green rimmed glasses. The chart also compares her 6ft height compared to a 3ft anthropomorphic male raccoon standing at 3ft.

A bunch of junk Delgado sketches

Born to dilly dally. Forced to lock in.

Two similar half body pencil sketches of an anthropomorphic female maned wolf wearing round glasses and a short jacket. Main differences of the sketches are the eye size and hand on hip pose.

Rhodes sketch while doing laundry. Much of her one liners are quotes, I lift from other people’s internet posts. I’m not as clever as I want to be, so I feel like a parasite.

Pencil sketch of an anthropomorphic female jackal wearing an eyepatch and a crop tanktop. She loads a round bullet in a breech loading flintlock pistol while saying, "I'm done with 'Self Care'. It's time to 'Harm Others'".

Olivia and the Futuristic Blackmask

Another Olivia sketch in the piles.

Pen and Ink sketch of an anthropomorphic female dragon with clenched fists saying, "No motivational quote today. Swing on them."

Older sketch of a futuristic Blackmask idea. The initial thought is that Cole adopts Olivia as a baby when her dragon father abandons her. Olivia outlives Cole, but is a trusted member of his family line up until the contemporary period where Olivia teams up with the latest in the Blackmask legacy.

Two pen and Ink drawings of an anthropomorphic female raccoon. Left drawing is of the raccoon wearing a shiny black unitard costume similar to a masked super heroine. The right drawing is of the raccoon wearing a large coat and fedora holding a magic broadsword conjured of shadow.

This Blackmask, temporary named, Cora Blackmask, is a reluctant heiress to The Blackmask Company. When her father, Cole Blackmask IV, perished due to the appearance of Ghost Chimera, she must team up with Olivia, a dragon friend of the family living for the millennia to seek out the mystery of the Chimera. Long story short, she’s a Batman-type to Olivia’s Kyodai/Flying Brick Hero type.

I’m reluctant to talk about this because this is far off of what I want to do for the game and I’m not a big fan of family line character who are the notable movers and shakers of the world building because stories end up just being about that dumb family drama.

Tiger Arena Sketch Ideas

I like drawing anthro tigers as martial artists. Tigers remind me of Sagat from Street Fighter. Sagat’s stage from Street Fighter 2 is cool. A tiger society would make a giant statues like that Buddha Statue. I’m too lazy to render that as gold in pencil. What if that giant tiger statue was an actual giant tiger character? This sketch is the result.

Pencil sketch of a stone martial arts ring with a giant female tiger reclining in the background. The tiger is dressed in ornate jewelry and beads.
Pencil sketch of a stone martial arts ring with two anthropomorphic male tigers in different fighting stances ready for a match against each other. A giant female tiger reclining in the background to judge the battle between the contenders.
A collection of pencil sketches of a stone martial arts ring with a giant female tiger reclining in the background. The different sketches are to explore how the character's outfit looks and figuring out the reclining pose with nude sketch studies.

On that similar note, here are idea sketches of weapons Monks and Martial Artists can equip in the world of Blackmask. Cole and Monks equip boots and footwear for extra damage or altered skills. Some boots grant abilities such as altered jumps heights, new kick attacks, or elemental damage.

Pen and ink sketches of an anthropomorphic male raccoon wearing a long jacket leaping in the air and divekicks in the air at a forward angle and hits the ground to create a shockwave. The drawings denoting the number of steps to create a potential dropping animation for a video game.

Other Misc Sketchbook Art

Some concept sketches of sitting NPCs that I haven’t made into pixel art.…yet.

Pen and Ink sketches of a variety of anthropomorphic animals sitting on the ground in different poses.

Banana Warrior. Sometimes I have winners, sometimes I have losers. I was looking up cone helmets for a current commission and stumbled upon cone turbans and it went forward from there.

Collection of pen and ink turnaround drawings of an anthropomorphic monkey wearing a yellow curved and pointed turban, curved and pointed gold pauldrons, a curved sword in the waist band and banana-themed jewelry surrounding the waist.

Cowardly Lion Warrior.

Pen and ink sketch of a lean and muscular anthropomorphic male lion wearing skimpy barbarian underpants, a small bag, and a short sword on his person. " Whoa! Hold On!" He stammers, "Just because I'm dressed like this, does NOT make me a warrior!"
Pen and ink drawing of an anthropomorphic tortoise wearing heavy armor, wielding a large mace for battle.

Later elaborations on Rabbit Knights from old draws whenever I’m inclined. I imagine they combat with kick skills. The rabbits also have mounts on giant snails like those silly medieval manuscript art.

I need to do more with this art. Everything I draw is hindered by my lack of writing skill, so it all feeds into my self loathing. I flip flop between wanting to draw less and not loosing the habit of keeping things going.

A collection of digital sketches of anthropomorphic rabbits. This collection includes: The pair of brown rabbits are a male and female rabbit wearing similar outfits of a black loincloth with gold trim at the ends. They wear a head dress were their ears cover the chest in modesty for both the female and male outfits. An ambiguous rabbit wearing shiny armor and helmet over a black under suit. They wear large bladed spurs at their heels for possible combat. The right sketch shows what the helmet looks like when opened. A male brown rabbit pulling his grey beard in consideration. He wears a purple coat with light purple pants with a green sash at his waist. He hold a black cane with a gold round handle.

It’s close to the end of summer and despite getting so much done, I’m nervous about the little work I’m doing. The Blackmask demo is still being built for this year, and making it work and presentable is always on my mind. My perfectionism is clouding my judgement, but I can’t prove that my instincts aren’t correct. Time is marching on and I can’t dwell on all the worrying.

Many of these are daily sketches I post on my socials to keep my skills sharp, so follow me everywhere so you can catch more of my work.
