Conventional Conclusions

This month has wrapped up my convention stuff, so I’m hoping to get more work on art for the rest of the year.

I’ve felt like my schedule has been out of control and my work output has suffered for it. Not only that, but I feel like I do clerical crap more than I draw and while it’s necessary, I hate doing it and I feel like it’s punishment for not doing art.

September & October Sketchbook 2022

I have a new sketchbook on my Ko-Fi Shop for September and October!

Likewise, I skipped a month as I didn’t draw enough in my mini sketchbook that month and I got self-conscious about it.

Now I have a 56-page PDF Collection of my raw scanned sketches! Enjoy!

Wauke-Con 2022

I had a fantastic time at Wauke-Con as I tried out my new table set up!

Wauke-Con 2022 Selfie

I sketched up some Final Fantasy postcards featuring the Warrior of Light and Terra!

I finally finished the Tekken sketch cards that I’ve been neglecting.

Hammond Public Library Fan Fest

I went to Indiana to for Hammond Public Library Fan Fest!

Debuted my new set-up with my big prints! The magnets are a smart idea for hanging prints without damaging them!

To pass the time, I drew Quistis from Final Fantasy 8. I sorta borked up card though.

Anime Halloween

I didn’t go to Anime Halloween because… I wasn’t even supposed to there!

The week before I went to the venue, I wondered why I got no set-up time emails or contacts saying what table I had. At first, I was bothered by the lack of professionalism from the organizers. But the truth is, I was unprofessional for not confirming I was even registered there!

The organizers did have space for me and I could pay them the $150 cash for the table cost. At first, I searched for a working ATM in the hotel, only to learn I exceeded my bank’s withdrawal limit to pay my rent for the month. In addition, The overall event was in a tiny corner of the hotel and I didn’t have confidence that I could sell either my books or stickers, even if some were Halloween-themed. Perhaps I was being defeatist, but my gut told me it wasn’t worth all this hassle, so I tapped out and left.

Long story short, when you claim that you are tabling at a convention, double check that you are registered for this years convention and not the last years. It’s a lesson learned that only cost my time and $40 for parking.

YouTube Community Tab

I finally have Community Posts on my YouTube channel. Now to find videos to upload on it.

I’ve had some chats with Adam about the fact that I haven’t streamed in a year, and I hear him and everyone else on that. It’s still tough for me to come back to the mindset of steaming, since I kept getting stuck figuring out what to do beyond, “draw the thing I needed to draw for the day.” I need to start by forcing one regular streaming day into my schedule to make it concrete.

Other Artwork

I’m pushing myself to color more of my ink drawings and get them out of my head. Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of sketching ideas only to be daunted by how to finish them. I want to isolate myself from posting as punishment to finish more art. Then I’ll despise myself less.

Despite that, I’m pushing on my drawing articles, with my most recent being my Claudia the Cat Witch Illustration. Down the line I’ll have more mini blogs for folksto read to make up for me not streaming. Video Editing is not my strong suit so making video tutorials feels more of a difficult task for me.

There are two months left of this year, and I hope things will be smoother sailing for my productivity. My convention stuff has wrapped up, so I’m hoping to get more work on art for Blackmask. I have some future news to share for Blackmask later this month, so stay tuned for that!
