Summer Wrap-Up

Intro

It’s the end of summer and my day job at school has started again, so I’m growing busier once more.

August Ko-Fi Sketchbook

I’ve made a new August sketchbook collection for my Ko-Fi Page!

It’s my collected scans of daily sketch art from my 3.5×5.5 sketchbooks during August 2022. It’s three different sketchbooks in a whopping 98-page PDF!

These scans get edited for future illustrations. But, showing WIPS without ever finishing art is a problem I see in my art.

New Stickers

I got a new sticker done of my Highclops Art! Thanks to Rockin’ Monkey, the holographic smoke is a fun addition to the smoke that elevates my art far!

If you want my Holographic High-Clops sticker for yourself, I now have them on my Etsy Store! It’s a 4-inch tall vinyl sticker that’s great for notebooks, water bottles and sticker bombs!

Along with this, I’m working on the newest additions to my Pastry Cat collection, starting with Cinnamon Roll Cat. Right now, I completed most of the line art in Procreate and did tiny experiments with the Rusty Nib brushes from True Grit Texture Supply.

Anime Magic

Anime Magic went alright for a convention, happening during C2E2 and Gen Con. Despite that, I had a good time all the same!

The convention was slow. It’s their third year ever holding it, but it wasn’t mishandled like other new conventions.

I showed up late for the first day, as I still had work at my summer job, but I didn’t miss many sales. On the last day, I lost too much time as I forgot my badge and had to drive back home from Rosemont to get it.

It was a good day to catch up on ink drawings that I had buried in my Bristol board pile. This is a drawing of one of the villains of Blackmask, Captain Dragonclaw.

While the poor raccoon scrambles to make his money by legit means, the swaggering sky pirate eschews such limits! Instead, he uses magic, trickery, and deadly force to gain riches and power at the expense of all who stand in his way.

I didn’t get commissions, so I doodled more stuff and walked the floor chatting with other artists.

This slow con has me rethinking my approach to selling my work at art events and conventions. I worry that my personal unwillingness to draw fan art is hindering me.

Alley Art Fest Aurora 2022

Alley Art Fest in Aurora, IL has started me with a fresh new look for my table! This show went better than I expected, as I’ve sold and chatted up interested buyers!

My cat stickers sold well as usual, but I need to rework my book prices as they aren’t moving at all.

It was still good to walk around Downtown Aurora! The weather complements two beautiful rivers surrounding the Water Street Mall area! I need to visit here more often!

New Artwork

After all this, I’ll drop some new art that I’ve yet to post here.

I also have an open-door policy on my commissions as well. Look through my commission prices and see if you might be interested in art from me! Who knows, your art might be the thing to get me to stream again!

September is getting more hands on deck to finish the Blackmask demo. I’ll also be busy printing new stickers, prints, and the eternal hustle for cash! I frequent Instagram and Twitter with my daily art, so if you want to see more of my day-to-day work, follow me!
