Three Cons of Spring

Howdy ho all! Taking a break from my Tears of the Kingdom addiction to bring you news of conventions, streaming, and drawing! I haven’t had much to say for the past few months as I’ve been keeping my nose to the ground.

Schaumburg Public Library

Back in April, I was at Schaumburg Library Con where I debuted my new Pastry Cat Playmats courtesy of Custom Mousepads!

The playmats have gotten plenty of eyes on my table., Magic players have asked me if I play, but I unfortunately don’t. Friends who’ve tried to teach me, but it hasn’t stuck with me.

There I also showed teaser footage of Blackmask, so folks can sign in the Mailing List! Progress is still moving forward, and you can read more about it on the game’s website!

Schaumburg Library Con was a good turnout as usual, and it gave me an excuse to visit my old college stomping grounds and walk the mall for the rest of the day.

Plainfield Area Public Library Fan Fest

After that, I was at Plainfield Area Public Library Fan Fest in the middle of April. It was a decent turnout, but my table ended up at a major bottleneck in the halls.

Not much as was done, and I didn’t feel like making fan art, so I drew Cole and Nad for a bit since some stuff with Blackmask was on my mind.

When I’m away from a screen, it’s easier for me to draw than do pixel art. I sometimes worry that I associated making sprites with long difficult work, and my interest in pixel art diminished.

Paper art like this could be in a manual or art book or something, so I don’t feel too guilty about drawing all the time.

In the short time at PAPL Fanfest, I met a few new art friends and had some fun chats! Hopefully I’ll meet up with them at other events!

Anime Central 2023

With my lucky break with their artist lottery, I was at Anime Central once again! For the first day, I had time to set up and walk around the venue. I got to chat with familiar faces also at the event, and scope out other conventions with open artist alley applications.

For all three days, I had a fantastic turn out! I was rocking my regular set up of comics and my new Pastry Cat Playmats, took a great chunk of commissions and got them all done in time and I felt like a winner!

While there, I had a small screen of Blackmask videos looping as with QR Codes to join the game’s Mailing List to gain more interest in the game. Having the screen for a three-days was tough keeping power on for my iPad and I had to keep taking down the screen to recharge.

Overall, I had a fine time, selling and chatting with folks who stopped by my table! During slow times between commissions, I draw some Tekken Art and OC stuff. As of writing this, I’m down to two of my Pastry Cat Playmats, so find me at these shows or order from my Etsy Store! I can’t confirm how quickly I can gather more Mats, so make haste!

The next conventions I’m selling at is Matteson Area Public Library FanFest and after that, Comicopolis in Lockport, IL. Both are smaller library cons, and they’re a good wrap down from the gigantic Anime Central.

I have a full year packed with cool conventions and events! Take a look through my Convention Schedule to see where I’ll be next!
