Unspecific Art Life

There’s not much to write about besides being laser focused on my freelance stuff. I’m in the final stretch of the books’ completion, so hopefully within the month I’ll be through with it.

I’ll drop in some old sketches that I hadn’t posted on this site yet.

Since I was between notes on work, I took an impromptu commission as well. I should’ve taken a harder line against my commission times, but I needed bills money and the commissioner is dependable.

Progress on Blackmask is making baby steps. I haven’t been doing too much pixel art but after the few meetings Adam and I managed to put together, we’re at a good understanding of what we want to accomplish for the demo, so stick around for more news on that!

Currently, I do bits of writing when I can. I shouldn’t be worrying too hard about getting it perfect from the jump. There’s an outline that Adam and I agreed on, it’s just the finer details and character interactions I want to figure out because that’s what I’ve been dreaming of working on.

Adam is the programmer, so I leave him more in charge of the gameplay systems, with little bits of feedback here and there. Despite me always worried about overscoping, Adam continues to impress me with all the stuff that he’s able to do! The next demo video should be a monstrous one!

I’ve also been looking into possible methods to build up my skills to be more helpful, such as learning Blender to make backgrounds, I don’t know if 3D could help with just pixel art, but I feel like I’m going to have to learn in the long run, so I’ve been following tutorials just to see if anything clicks.

Learning Pixel Art is easy because overall I’m drawing with my table. But 3D is an alternate mindset that I’m getting frustrated over. I don’t want to feel like this may end up a waste of time.

In terms of other life stuff, I’m hanging in there. I’m disappointed about my personal lack of progress in art and dealing with this website. I haven’t streamed in a month because I’m too much of a downer right now. Perhaps I’ll be in better spirits once I can take a longer break from the heavier art projects. I even sketched a cool idea for the holiday season!
